We are looking for an Entry-Level building Architectural Designer in Essex Junction, VT who is excited about learning and growing their career on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. Join us and you’ll have the chance to work on projects including advanced semiconductor manufacturing tool layouts and space planning. 

In this role, you will contribute from day one by developing design concepts and technical studies that support client decision‑making, as well as overseeing the production of detailed drawing packages for high-tech buildings that include cleanrooms, manufacturing, and hazardous materials. You will work across all phases of design and continue supporting projects through construction and post‑construction client engagement.

Responsibilities include participating in presentations, attending client meetings, conducting existing site analysis, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and consultants to advance project goals. As a professional, you will provide technical and analytical expertise to our Site‑Based Services team and help deliver state‑of‑the‑art industrial and high‑tech manufacturing facilities. You will Coordinate with the Space Facilitator and Design Manager to develop the facility space plan and support space plan health, support the establishing the site master plan arrangement of buildings, massing, site structures, circulation, and SMP issues, and assist with developing building conceptual layouts, sections, and elevations ensuring consideration of adjacencies, egress, occupancy, building type, and code.

You will apply strong design, communication, and problem‑solving skills in a fast‑paced environment while supporting engineering strategies and coordinating with clients and subcontractors. During construction, you will be a key contributor through site visits, review of submittals and RFIs, and other activities that build a comprehensive foundation in project delivery.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Architecture related major
  • Basic experience or familiarity with preparing design drawings across all project phases, from schematic design through construction documentation, including associated project deliverables.
  • Familiarity with building codes
  • Local to or willing to relocate to Essex Junction, VT as this position is considered project site/hybrid and may require you to work in the local office/ project site
  • This is an on-site position requiring work to be performed on the client site in Essex Junction, VT; Candidate must be willing to commute to the site Monday-Friday during normal business hours – nominally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some flexibility based on ability of site to support and employee preference. Relocation assistance may be provided for qualified candidate.
  • Position requires field visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction.  Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25lbs.
  • Applicant must complete background check, drug screen and be fully authorized to work for any client in the United States. Jacobs will not sponsor or continue a Visa for this position.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Internship experience with an Architectural or Engineering Firm, designing commercial buildings
  • Experience with AutoCAD, NavisWorks and/or Revit BIM software

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

65,000.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

85,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $65,000.00 to $85,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
