About the Role

The Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases (IND) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing research team. This is a  non-clinical, research-focused position dedicated to advancing the understanding, early detection, and prevention of neurodegenerative conditions.

This role is ideal for a clinician who enjoys data interpretation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and contributing to cutting-edge research rather than providing direct patient care or managing treatment plans.

Key Responsibilities Participant & Study Management
  • Monitor and support participant research visits in accordance with study protocols
  • Conduct intake screenings and assist with participant eligibility assessments
  • Support informed consent processes and ensure participant understanding
  • Lead research disclosure visits, including review and explanation of research findings through our responsible transparency disclosure protocol
Data Review & Interpretation
  • Review participant medical records and synthesize relevant clinical data for research use
  • Interpret biomarker and clinical data within the scope of study protocols
  • Identify critical findings and communicate appropriately to participants and their primary care providers when necessary
  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of participant datasets in collaboration with research coordinators
Biospecimen & Clinical Procedures
  • Perform venipuncture and oversee biospecimen collection when needed
  • Ensure proper handling, processing, and documentation of biological samples in accordance with protocols
Research Operations & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with IRB protocols, HIPAA regulations, and ethical research standards
  • Maintain accurate, secure, and audit-ready documentation of all research activities
  • Assist in the development and implementation of research procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Support protocol development, reporting, and regulatory submissions as needed
Collaboration & Coordination
  • Work closely with research coordinators to gather and review external medical records from treating providers
  • Collaborate with investigators, laboratory personnel, and external partners
  • Coordinate with lab teams to ensure data integrity, collection accuracy, and proper preparation
Scholarly & Research Contributions
  • Contribute to manuscript development, journal articles, and scientific reporting
  • Assist in data analysis interpretation and presentation for internal and external use
Qualifications
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in good standing
  • Strong clinical background with the ability to interpret medical data and lab results
  • Prior experience in clinical research or a strong interest in transitioning into research
  • Experience with venipuncture and biospecimen handling preferred
  • Familiarity with IRB processes, HIPAA, and research compliance standards
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, especially in explaining complex data to non-medical participants
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in neurology, preventive medicine, or functional medicine
  • Prior involvement in biomarker-driven or longitudinal research studies
  • Experience contributing to publications or scientific writing
