Essential Job Functions

  • Post and code charges accurately and in a timely manner
  • Process patient payments, including credit card transactions
  • Submit claims and manage billing inquiries via phone, email, and in person
  • Monitor and follow up on patient and insurance accounts receivable
  • Research and resolve denied or unpaid claims, including corrected claims and records requests
  • Prepare and provide detailed patient ledgers and billing documentation
  • Assist patients with self-pay processes and submissions to insurance carriers when applicable
  • Maintain and monitor patient payment plans and arrangements
  • Research coding questions and support billing accuracy
  • Sort and manage incoming billing-related correspondence (mail, faxes, etc.)
  • Reconcile payments and prepare deposits as needed
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support billing processes and workflow improvements
  • Educate patients on balances, billing processes, and financial responsibility
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of medical billing experience
  • Strong understanding of the full revenue cycle process
  • Experience working with patient accounts receivable and insurance follow-up
  • Knowledge of medical billing terminology and coding practices
  • Familiarity with credits, debits, and basic accounting principles
  • Experience in cash-pay or self-pay environments preferred
  • Understanding of commercial insurance carriers (excluding Medicare/Medicaid focus)
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to educate both patients and staff
  • Adaptability and comfort in a constantly evolving environment
  • Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Ability to manage high volume and prioritize effectively
  • Empathy and professionalism when working with patients
