MEDICAL BILLING SPECIALIST

ONSITE | DALLAS, TX

DIRECT HIRE | $47,840 - $52,000

Imprimis Group, Inc. has partnered with a growing medical billing firm in the Dallas area seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join their team. This role plays a critical part in the overall business goals. The client offers a collaborative, fast-paced environment with long-term growth potential.

Position Summary

The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately translating medical procedures, diagnoses and services into universally accepted billing codes by using ICD-10, HCPCS, and CPT codes. The billing specialist will ensure that insurance claims are prepared and submitted in a timely and compliant manner, facilitating the revenue cycle and reimbursement process for healthcare providers. The role will initially support Nephrology practices , Imaging, DME, pain practice. Knowledge of one or all of these specialties is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD (International Classification of Diseases), and HCPCS (Healthcare Common Coding System) codes to medical diagnoses, procedures, and services.
  • Follow coding guidelines and conventions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze medical records and provide documentation to identify relevant codes ensuring coding reflects the medical necessity and completeness of services.
  • Stay up to date with coding updates, guidelines and regulations
  • Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims to insurance companies; verify the accuracy of the claim.
  • Monitor claim status and follow up on denied or rejected claims; Prepare and submit appeals for denied claims, including the providing necessary documentation.

Qualifications

  • CPC (Certified Professional Coder), CCS (Certified Coding Specialist) or similar coding certification required.
  • Knowledge of medical coding systems (CPT, ICD, HCPCS) and familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (HER) systems.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance and regulations, including HIPAA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Professional demeanor and strong attention to detail
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required
